Bringing Prevention Education to Your Organization
ChicagoCAC offers customized group trainings focused on preventing, recognizing, responding to, and reporting child sexual abuse and gender-based violence. These sessions are tailored by our Education, Outreach, & Prevention team to meet the needs of youth-serving organizations, survivor-focused agencies, and community members, including caregivers.Â

Group Training Details
- Our customizable training sessions are available virtually or in person for groups of five or more. In-person sessions are offered throughout the Chicagoland area.
- Trainings are available in English and Spanish.
- Pricing varies based on group size, session length, and customization needs. After you submit a request form, our team will review your information and provide a personalized quote.
- Continuing Education (CE) credits are available for most sessions, including for licensed social workers, counselors, and psychologists. A small fee may apply for CE certification upon completion.
Whether you’re a social service provider, educator, clinician, our goal is to equip your team with the knowledge and tools to recognize, prevent, and respond to abuse & violence. Each training session reflects over two decades of experience in the field and is led by seasoned prevention professionals rooted in trauma-informed best practices.
Training Offerings by Audience
For Adult Survivor Serving Organizations
Duration: 2.5 hoursÂ
This training is geared towards professionals who may encounter survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in their work environment. The training will explore four forms of GBV: domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, and human trafficking.  Â
Participants will:Â Â
- Leave with a better understanding of each form of GBV
- Learn about ways that trauma can present in survivors
- Have resources and tools to help, including trauma-informed responses and local and national organizations that can assistÂ
This training can be modified to best fit situations that a variety of professionals may encounter when working with survivors of GBV, including those that work in housing, human services, hospitals, education, faith-based organizations, and more.
For Youth-Serving Organizations
Duration: 1.5 – 2 hoursÂ
This training will equip participants to recognize, respond to, and report suspected abuse. Topics include the prevalence and impact of child sexual abuse, an overview of mandated reporting, ChicagoCAC’s role in child abuse investigations, and what prevention looks like in youth-serving organizations.Â
Participants will:Â
- Learn how to define child sexual abuse and identify behaviors in youth that could indicate abuse has occurred
- Learn how to respond to abuse disclosures and make a report when appropriate
- Learn how to intervene when they see concerning and inappropriate behaviors
- Learn what appropriate behavior around youth might look likeÂ
Duration: 1. 5 – 2 hours
This training will help participants better understand youth behavior online, various risks and trends in online harm, and offer prevention and conversation strategies to engage youth and others about online safety.
Participants will:
- Learn about cyberbullying, sextortion, and other common online forms of harm
- Learn about resources for internet safety for youth and professionals
- Have a variety of strategies to start conversations and set boundaries around internet safety.
Duration: 1. 5 – 2 hours
This training expands upon Illinois’s mandatory DCFS training and provides more guidance and support around reporting in various situations.
Participants will:
- Understand that they are a mandated reporter and what responsibilities that entails
- Understand situations where a report needs to be made
- Understand how to respond the youth making the report
- Understand what information to share with the child abuse hotline
For Caregivers & Community Members
Duration: 1.5 – 2 hoursÂ
This training will equip participants to recognize, respond to, and report suspected abuse.
