Every year ChicagoCAC recognizes a “luminary” figure, someone who has done exceptional, much-needed work on behalf of Chicago’s children.

It’s a time for celebration and a renewed focus on the role ChicagoCAC plays in the community.

In 2020, due to the growing COVID pandemic the Luminary Award Dinner was cancelled. While we hoped to resume Luminary in-person for 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic, local restrictions and CDC guidance prevent us from doing so.

Instead, ChicagoCAC held a virtual gathering, Help Shine a Light on Child Abuse, that took the place of Luminary in 2021. We also participated in Uniting Against Child Abuse, a collaborative virtual event among 12 child advocacy centers nationwide, also held in May of this year. Both events featured survivors sharing their stories and were an inspiring reflection on the everyday work of ChicagoCAC and other agencies, and you can watch them at their respective links above.
