Thank you to Chicago Tribune for highlighting ChicagoCAC and the challenges we and our partners face in protecting our community’s children in this article from August 23, 2017.
As we continue supporting and coordinating the efforts of our public partners, our staff provides the highest level of trauma-informed care and support for victims and their families. Our family advocates provide immediate, vital resources to families in crisis. Our forensic interviewers gently and expertly help children tell their stories. Our therapists provide the long-term healing that victims and families need to recover from trauma and lead happier, healthier lives. All of us share a deep dedication to providing compassionate care for victims of child sexual abuse in Chicago.
We know that our multi-disciplinary team – police, state’s attorneys, child protection specialists, child abuse pediatricians and non-profit staff – is the best model to prevent child sexual abuse, support victims and bring perpetrators to justice. But this work isn’t easy. We proudly work alongside our outstanding partners and our community to improve our practices and ensure we all have the resources needed to battle abuse and restore lives.
