A Night of Heroes 2021 will bring together hundreds of business and community leaders, friends, and supporters to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center and the many heroes who have made our two decades of work possible.

With a theme of Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future, this year’s event will recognize ChicagoCAC’s champions over the years, while also raising vital funds for our ongoing programs and services for abused children. In addition to honoring some very special guests, the evening will feature an open bar with signature craft cocktails, elegant hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, raffle, live music by Prizefighter, and more. This year, your support of A Night of Heroes can also help ChicagoCAC fulfill a $100,000 challenge grant.

Our goal is to have the safest, most enjoyable, and most successful A Night of Heroes to date. In response to rising COVID-19 rates driven by the highly contagious Delta variant, and to protect our guests, staff, and the vulnerable children we serve, we are requiring either proof of vaccination or a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event.

Dress for the event will be business casual. The event venue offers indoor/outdoor seating and we will continue to follow CDC guidelines. We will have masks at check-in if you forget yours, and hand sanitizers located throughout the event. Please stay home and participate in our auction virtually if you exhibit any COVID symptoms or have traveled to a hot spot within 10 days prior to September 29. If masking guidelines change, we will adhere to CDC and local health department recommendations.

About our Honorees

Former Mayor Richard M. Daley, Founder & Visionary
Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center exists because Mayor Daley had the vision and compassion to see the need for a CAC in the City of Chicago. Planning began in 1998 under his leadership, ChicagoCAC was incorporated on January 15, 1999, and the center opened on August 5, 2001. “Now, these children can have hope that they will receive compassionate, timely, comprehensive services to help them heal from abuse,” Daley said.

Barbara Lumpkin, Co-Founder
As Director of the Office of Budget and Management for the City of Chicago, Barbara Lumpkin spearheaded the task force that brought Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center to fruition. Barbara was also an inaugural member of ChicagoCAC’s Advisory Board, serving from 2001-2013.

Tom and Bonnie Sampson, Catalysts
In recognition of Tom and Bonnie Sampson’s transformational support over the past 15 years, ChicagoCAC rededicated its mental health program as The Sampson Family Hope Center in September 2019. Tom joined ChicagoCAC’s Board of Directors in 2007 and served as President from 2013-2019.
