10th Annual Poetry SLAM4SAAM

Join us for Sexual Abuse Speak Out’s 10th Annual Poetry SLAM4SAAM on April 18, held to honor Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This virtual event will feature dynamic poetry performances by sexual assault survivors, family members and others impacted by abuse, with an important appearance by ChicagoCAC’s Community Advisory Council. Tickets are $10, with all proceeds going to benefit ChicagoCAC.

ChicagoCAC’s Community Advisory Council hosts the annual Beyond Words reception to honor survivors of child sexual abuse in April (which is both Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month). This event features survivors of child sexual abuse speaking about the importance of an adult’s role in keeping children safe. This year, we’ve combined our Beyond Words event with the esteemed national organization Sexual Abuse Speak Out (SASO). SASO prides itself on encouraging, empowering, strengthening and supporting anyone who has experienced sexual abuse. It’s a long emotional road ahead but the first step is speaking out.
