SUMMARY:Keeping children safe online: What parents and child-serving professionals need to know about preventing and responding to sexual misconduct over the internet
DESCRIPTION:In the age of social distancing and remote learning, parents and child-serving professionals must know what they can do to prevent sexual harm involving children that may occur online. This session will help adults better understand the nature of online boundary violations, inappropriate explicit communication, child sexual abuse images, sextortion and other online sexual misconduct so that they can stop these traumas from happening before they start. Prevention tips, how to talk to children about digital safety and resources will be shared. Additionally, this training will cover new guidance issued by the Illinois State Board of Education about Erin’s Law Prevention Education during remote or hybrid learning.\nAfter registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. A link to pay for and receive 1.5 Continuing Education credits will be available at the conclusion of the training for $15.00 for Illinois licensed social workers, counselors or psychologists.\n
