Scott E. Keenan Luncheon
On Friday May 25, 2007, the Illinois Medical District held a luncheon to honor the career of Scott E. Keenan.
Keenan joined the Chicago Police Department in October 1971 and rose through the ranks to become a Detective in 1978. In 1980 he was assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit, where he investigated violent crimes against women and children, and the deaths of children. He ultimately became an analyst in the Chicago Police Department Detective Division Headquarters where he developed and conducted sexual assault training programs. Keenan, who retired in February 2007, was one of the founding members of the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center and served as the Chief Officer of Operations for the Center. Scott’s responsibilities included oversight of the Center’s social services, including court and family advocacy programs; transportation; and the research and policy development department. Keenan is also a designee to the Mayor’s Council on Domestic Violence Council, a member of the Cook County Child Death Review team, and was a member of the drafting committee for the State of Illinois Sexual Assault Protocol.
Scott Keenan is one of the principal pioneers responsible for changing police methods, attitudes, and treatment of victims during the investigation of sexual assaults and violence against women and children throughout the State of Illinois.
The Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center misses Scott greatly and wishes him well in all his future endeavors!
