CCAC Mourns Loss of John H. Stroger, Jr.

Former Cook County Board President and CCAC Advisory Board Member John H. Stroger, Jr., passed away on January 18 of complications related to a stroke suffered in 2006.

John Stroger, who served as Cook County Commissioner from 1970 to 2006, and as County Board President from 1994 to 2006, was instrumental in the creation of the CCAC.  When the Center opened its doors in August 2001, President Stroger stood side by side with Mayor Daley at the ribbon cutting ceremony.  His efforts on behalf of the CCAC were a testament to his commitment of abused children of Chicago.

It is with great sadness that the CCAC says goodbye to John H. Stroger, Jr., a faithful public servant and a good friend.  He will be truly missed.
