Dr. Michelle Lorand speaks about the new child abuse pediatrics specialty
Our very own Medical Clinic Director, Dr. Michelle Lorand, is featured on CBS News concerning the new tests for doctors on their way to becoming board-certified child abuse specialists. Two weeks ago, Dr. Lorand was one of over 230 medical professionals in the country to take this test.
As the number of child abuse referrals increases at the CCAC, as well as many other centers across the country, the need for child abuse pediatric specialists increases. It is hoped that the creation of this specialty will cause more doctors to go into the field, helping to prevent fatal child abuse cases.
