Joining Together for the Children

In 1998, a task force of child care professionals from across all disciplines was developed; this group became the genesis of the CCAC. Collectively they worked to put aside their individual professional agendas and came together to create the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center. It was determined that the four key agencies that deal with child abuse would work under one roof to streamline the process and better serve abused children. These agencies included the Chicago Police Department, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the Cook County Bureau of Health Services and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
